WFWU-CWA members delivered a petition signed by over 250 employees and customers who want to fix Wells Fargo's policies that seem to create more problems and risk than protecting our safety at work. The petition was addressed to Charlie Scharf and was delivered to managers at the Charlotte, NC; Des Moine, IA; Chandler, AZ, and San Antonio, TX corporate offices, as well as at other locations.

Question of the Week

Question: I've noticed there are not security guards at my bank branch. That doesn't seem safe. Why doesn't my bank branch have a security guard any more?

Answer: It's true, very few bank branches have security guards anymore and with staffing levels way down from where they used to be, many Tellers and Bankers do not feel very safe, especially from robberies. It turns out that banks have very little incentive to spend much resources on branch security for employees because banks like Wells Fargo are insured for theft, usually around 110% of the money stolen from the bank. So when a branch gets robbed, the bank actually makes money on their insurance claim. Sounds crazy but it's true.
