Our Movement is on Track to Grow to 19 Branches in 12 States this month!

With upcoming elections scheduled at the Barnegat, New Jersey and Schaumburg, Illinois branches in August, our union movement is poised to grow to 19 branches in 12 states this month! Several teams around the country are in friendly competition to be the 20th union branch as they talk to their team, work on their union announcement letters and prepare to win their votes. Many of you reading this weekly newsletter have been talking to your coworkers about joining our movement. We are here to help you. Sign up for our next class announced below and find out what is really going on in the union branches and what it takes to join us!  

Upcoming union votes:

• Tuesday, August 6 - Barnegat, New Jersey Branch
• Thursday, August 22 - Schaumburg, Illinois Branch

And now that we have achieved a critical mass, building a broad base of support, we are preparing to bargain our first union contract. Negotiating our first union contract will take some time and require all of us to stick together and support one another, but once we reach an agreement with management, this contract will cover all of the union branches so now is the time to join us because with each successful union vote we get stronger and have more power to achieve the positive changes we all deserve and need through collective bargaining.

Question: Can forming a union protect us against layoffs?

Answer: When workers form a union, employers are obligated to bargain in good faith. Layoffs are one of the issues that are a mandatory subject of collective bargaining. So with a union, we can force Wells Fargo to negotiate with us over the effects of any proposed layoff that would negatively impact any union members before they happen. This includes negotiating to stop the layoffs altogether.
