Customers show support for our union

Customers show support during contract negotiations

Over the last couple of weeks, Wells Fargo customers have taken flyers and wore stickers that said, "I do business with unionized banks" as a show of support for the bankers and tellers at 26 union branches across the country who are in the first-ever union contract negotiations with Wells Fargo management. CWA members helped get the word out by handing out information to customers at union branches to educate them on how the things we are fighting for will also benefit customers.

Better staffing means shorter wait times. Better pay means less turnover and more experienced staff. "Just cause" employment (instead of being "at will") will mean management won't be able to retaliate against your for speaking up about unethical practices, including if the unethical practices harm customers.

Volunteers are educating customers at non-union branches too. Customers overwhelmingly approve and support workers having a voice and a union at work because they want the bankers and tellers who serve them to be treated right.

Here is some of the support we received from around the country:

Wells Fargo in the News

"Jury Orders Wells Fargo to Pay more than $800 million to trust for Seminole Tribe children," The Palm Beach Post. April 4, 2025.

A South Florida jury awarded more than $800 million to a trust benefiting the children of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The Seminole Tribe accused Wells Fargo of charging unauthorized fees and failing to diversify investments. Wells Fargo maintains they managed the trust conservatively as instructed by the tribe and plans to appeal the verdict.

Question of the Week

Question: How much more do workers with a union make over their lifetime than non-union workers?

Answer: A lot!  The most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics figures show that weekly earnings for unionized workers are 16% higher on average for comparable jobs. And a recent academic paper found that union membership is associated with a $1.3 million increase in lifetime income — larger than the gain from completing college.

While there are no guarantees, the data speaks for itself. Workers with a union earn more than workers without a union for comparable jobs. So what are you waiting for? Start organizing. And if you've already organized your branch or department, don't stop. Keep helping others at Wells Fargo organize because the more members we have, the stronger we'll be at the bargaining table and the more we'll win in our first contract.
