Wells Fargo Settles ULP at Havertown Branch

Wells Fargo Settles with the NLRB over charges management violated rights of workers in Havertown, PA Branch
When the team at the Havertown Branch in Pennsylvania decided to organize a union last year, their manager allegedly threatened to end their schedule flexibility as punishment for forming a union. Because they had taken our Union 101: Know Your Rights Class, the team knew that it is illegal for employers to make threats, retaliate or coerce you into not voting yes for a union. The team immediately notified our union attorneys (CWA has an entire legal department) who filed Unfair Labor Practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, an agency of the federal government.
While it took nearly a year for the NLRB to investigate these charges, the government found that our charges had merit. The NLRB got Wells Fargo to settle the ULP charges out of court. Wells Fargo agreed to remedy the allegations by posting a "Notice To Employees", signed by a District Manager, stating Wells Fargo will NOT violate their right to form a union in any way, including:
"WE HAVE restored our practice of permitting Amer Dababneh to start his shift at 8:45am, as he was permitted to do prior to May 1, 2024."
Below is a photo of the Notice posted in the Havertown Branch break room. The settlement agreement requires Wells Fargo to post the Notice in the Havertown Branch for 60 consecutive days in the break room. Management must also ensure that it is not covered up, or defaced in any way.
In celebrating the Settlement, Amer Dababneh, who is a Senior Premier Banker in the Havertown Branch, exclaimed, "With this settlement, we want to encourage all our co-workers around the country to come together, because united, we can succeed in making Wells Fargo better for all of us!"
Christina Kaltsidis, a Teller at Havertown, added, "We are especially pleased that Wells Fargo has explicitly committed to NOT change our working conditions, including schedule flexibility, because of our union activity."
Havertown is now not only a UNION Branch, but Amer was also elected by his coworkers across the union branches as an alternate to participate in contract negotiations. Amer has in fact participated in several contract bargaining sessions, sitting directly across from Wells Fargo attorneys and senior management. (Watch the video below to hear directly from Amer.)

Question of the Week:
Question: What do I do if I want to join the union but I'm scared of retaliation?
Answer: Everyone is scared at first because Wells Fargo has been retaliating against workers for all kinds of unfair reasons long before we started to form a union. When we join together and exercise our right to form a union, we actually gain additional protections that we don't have when we act alone. So the only way to make things better is by organizing and together demanding a say over our working conditions.
Remember, our strength lies in our numbers. There are more of us than there are executives at Wells Fargo. That's why we organize to have a collective voice. Because if we join together, we can overcome our fear and ensure that Wells Fargo respects our rights.
